How-to

How to export your Letterboxd data

Letterboxd keeps the download on the website, not in the phone app. The reliable way into Movies Wrapped is that ZIP.

Use a browser, including on a phone

Sign in to Letterboxd on the web. The direct page is https://letterboxd.com/settings/data/. The Letterboxd app does not include this export, so a phone has to use its browser.

Upload the whole export when you can

Letterboxd usually downloads a ZIP. Sometimes it emails the file instead. Upload that ZIP on Movies Wrapped, or upload the CSV files inside it. The full export produces the more complete dossier. A single CSV still works, with a narrower result.

Export your Letterboxd data and open Movies Wrapped

  1. Sign in on the web. Open Letterboxd in a browser. The mobile app has no data export.
  2. Open Settings, then Data. From your profile go to Settings, then the Data tab, or open https://letterboxd.com/settings/data/ directly.
  3. Choose Export Your Data. Click Export Your Data.
  4. Confirm the export. Click Confirm when Letterboxd asks you to.
  5. Save the ZIP. The file usually downloads. If it does not, check the email account on your Letterboxd profile.
  6. Upload it to Movies Wrapped. On https://movieswrapped.com/en drop the ZIP, the extracted folder, or the CSV files.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no export button in the Letterboxd app?

The Letterboxd app has no data export. Use a browser, including the browser on your phone, and open Settings → Data.

What if Letterboxd emails the file instead of downloading it?

Wait for that email and upload the ZIP it contains. Movies Wrapped does not read your inbox.

Can I upload a CSV?

Yes. Upload the ZIP export from Letterboxd (Settings → Data) or individual CSV files. The full export gives the most complete analysis.

Is it free?

Yes. Movies Wrapped is free — no payment or account required.

Is my data stored?

Your export is processed in this session to build your results, and is never sold. Review bodies and full film lists stay on your device. If you accept analytics, we keep your Letterboxd username, aggregate stats, review titles and lengths (not review bodies), and anonymous usage events to improve the product.
